The beautiful golden-orange flowers of the Calendula plant (also known as pot marigold) are used on the skin for their regenerative, healing, anti-irritant, antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and mildly astringent properties.

Its active constituents include: high amounts of flavonoids (such as quercetin) which are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, saponins (such as oleanolic acid, beta-carotene and other carotenoids) which are antioxidant, terpenes, polysaccharides, polyacetylenes and phenolic acids.

Calendula is known for its ability to brighten skin and protect from blemishes. It is an emollient which can help moisturise the skin and it also contains carotenoids which nourish the skin.

It is effective for almost all skin issues, from eczema, rashes, cuts, bites and wounds to redness or irritation. It is a wonderful first-aid plant to have at hand.
