Olive Oil

The Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans had no soap and didn’t miss it thanks to Olive oil (Olea Europaea). They massaged olive oil into their skin, then scraped it back off, along with dirt and dead skin.

Cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) contains important vitamins and nutrients and is loaded with antioxidants, such as vitamin A, vitamin E and hydroxytyrosol, which help to prevent cell degeneration in our skin and allow the oil to work as a cleanser, moisturiser and skin protector. In addition vitamin E and squalene in olive oil help restore skin elasticity and its regenerative properties.
Olive oil has anti-aging properties and helps protect against UVB damage.
Olive oil is the carrier of choice for oil infusions because of its more stable mono-unsaturated chemical structure that gives it greater stability at room temperatures. It is also widely used as it doesn’t have the allergenic risk of nut oils.
